A bridge is designed to restore your dental function and to replace missing teeth, but sometimes it can be made from porcelain so it looks just like your natural teeth and blends into your mouth – so it’s unnoticeable when you smile or laugh. Bridges can also be made from precious metal such as gold; however these have lessened in popularity over the years as people prefer a more natural look.
If you have lost a single tooth or a number of teeth in a row, we can offer different types of bridges to meet your needs. A traditional bridge is anchored in place by two crowns which are affixed to the adjacent teeth to the gap. Other bridge types include an adhesive bridge which is adhered to just one supporting tooth or a resin-bonded bridge which has a metal framework and is bonded to the supporting teeth.
Once in place, a bridge is polished so it feels smooth and like your natural teeth.
With the correct maintenance a bridge can last for many years and can be an ideal solution to replace lost teeth, but needs very careful discussion and assessment to ensure they are right for you.
